How the waves run

The competition runs in waves. Each wave has 20 to 25 athletes and athletes go in order of their number. Waves start at 8am and a new wave starts every 30 minutes. Athlete waves are announced 2 weeks prior to competition.

Athletes begin at the Fast Forty, and compete in order of each event down the field.

APEX field layout: the seven event stations run down one side of the infield, with the athlete wave lineup area along the top, and the spectator, tent and vendor, and athlete warm-up areas filling the rest of the infield inside the track.
Every APEX field is set up in the same order, so the walk from event to event is the same in every city. The venue-specific map for your competition is posted on its competition page and at the registration tent.
