Tim Riley

The story behind APEX, in his own words.

Tim spent his life around competitive sport — first as a Division I athlete, then in the years after, watching the same problem play out for everyone he trained with: once the scoreboard goes dark, there's no real way to measure where you stand.

Gym PRs are local. 5K times don't cross over. Combine numbers belong to a handful of pros. There was no neutral ground for adult athletes to actually test themselves against the same standard, year after year, in the same way the NFL Combine does for prospects.

APEX is the answer he wanted for himself. Seven hand-selected events covering Speed, Power, Strength, and Endurance. One score out of a thousand, normalized against APEX performance standards. Run the same way in every city, scored the same way for every athlete.

The first event ran with a hand-built scoring kiosk and a few dozen athletes. It's grown since — but the rule has stayed the same: measure what matters, the same way, every time. So the number you put up in Austin means the same thing as the number someone else put up in Chicago.
